You will find WMF Espresso makers is a variety of models and sizes. To find out which Espresso maker is suitable for which type of cooker, please see the corresponding symbols. If using gas, please make sure that the flame does not rise sideways up the pot. Application: Unscrew the Espresso Machine by firmly holding upper and lower parts and turning them anti-clockwise. Remove the funnel insert. Fill the lower part with water maximally up to the level of the safety valve. Put the funnel back into the lower part and fill ground coffee into it. Using the intermediate sieve you can prepare the half quantity. Take half the amount of water, put the intermediate sieve into the funnel insert and give the reduced amount of powder onto the sieve. Screw the upper and lower parts together again and heat the Espresso Machine (suitable for gas, electric, ceramic and induction hobs). The espresso will rise into the upper container as steam is generated, producing a slight bubbling sound. Once this sound has stopped, the Espresso can be served. Just what you would expect from a legendary German firm,restrained good looks,solid workmanship and worthwhile features.Engineered from heavy gauge stainless steel it looks and feels exactly right.The inside is polished so is easy to keep clean even if put away damp (unlike those annoying alloy versions) and the coffee grains holder has a loose perforated plate sitting on a ridge so you can make half the quantity. Oh,and did I mention it makes delicious coffee? Money well spent!

Great coffee...but I almost wish I had two of the 4 cup version.

We own both the 6 and the 4 cup of these and use them daily and both make great coffee. However I have no doubt the 4 cup was the original design as it pours perfect (we bought it because we just got fed up with having to wipe up coffee that dribbled down the side when one pours from inferior coffee makers).So while the 6 cup version looks great next to the 4 cup (as both are the same height, only the diameter varies) you can imagine the slight frustration when we discovered that the 6 cup dribbles(!!) and quite spectacularly at that.If you will have enough from the 4 cup then buy that as I cannot find fault with it, perfect coffee experience every time, if however you need the extra 2(?) cups (it really doesn't seem to be that much more when I divide it up in the morning..)then be prepared to pour your coffee above the sink to catch the dribbles.WMF Kult will make great coffee, no doubt about that, only way to improve you coffee from here is buy better coffee!

Mind the handles...

In the technical details' list on the Amazon website it was mentioned that the hollow handles did not burn while heating , which was a most important selling point for me. Unfortunately this was wrong and completely misleading as you cannot manipulate it without burning yourself. I wish the manufacturer had put an isolant cover on the handle given the fact that the technical detail regarding heat conductivity is false.
