The Elipta automatic espresso machine from Morphy Richards gives you that coffeehouse experience from the comfort of your own home--great for those who love entertaining or just for anyone who likes a proper cup of coffee in the morning.

With dual dispensing for espresso and a steam wand for frothing milk, as well as a slot for ESE pods, you can have your coffee just how you like it. The espresso function maintains a 19-bar pressure and either 7g or 14g filters can be used.

The stylish brushed stainless steel finish looks great on your worktop and the electronic controls are easy to use. The removable and adjustable drip tray has an indicator to let you know when it is full and cups can be warmed on the top of the unit. Other features include non-slip feet and cord storage.

shake rattle and roll

I bought this machine to replace our six years old Morphy Richards Cafe Rico espresso machine which had given up the ghost. We would have bought another Cafe Rico as it had worked well and made excellent espresso coffee to our taste.We've had the Elipta 47155 for about a week and although it makes decent coffee with a lovely cremma froth ( we drink ours black ) it vibrates too much when the pump kicks in. This is so bad that when the machine starts to dispense coffee the cups/mugs vibrate off the drip tray. It's even worse if you have drip tray raised which is meant to be used when using smaller cups. Got to admit that at first I did like this feature if only it worked properly.Now the thing is that we could just switch the old Cafe Rico on and leave it and when it was ready it would dispense the coffee into the supplied jug with no problem.When we used the Elipta for the first time we placed a couple of reasonably heavy restaurant style coffee cups on the drip tray. We raised the drip tray to accommodate the smaller cups. Switched the machine on and carried on with our meal.Next thing we knew the cups had vibrated off the drip tray with coffee going everywhere.Jeeeezzzz what a mess!!After cleaning up the mess we made some more coffee but this time we held the cups so that they didn't vibrate off again. And this with fairly heavy cups, those tiny espresso cups would have gone into orbit!One of the nice things about the Elipta is that it can take a mug up to 10.4cms in height which most machines can't. Our La Pavoni Europicolla will only take cups that are no more than 6cms in height which is ok if you like tiny shots of espresso.We did think of sending it back for a refund, but I've decided to keep it because it does make fairly decent coffee and we love the nice cremma on top that the old Cafe Rico espresso machine didn't do.The other great thing is that from switch on to the moment the machine starts to dispense coffee is around a minute!Oh and before I forget, the customer service from Morphy Richards is first class.

Not Bad.......Must try harder.!

I Have owned one of these a few weeks now and have had a chance to find my likes and dislikes. I have owned 2 other Morphy richards coffee machines one being the 47507 which was in my opinion quite a good machine. Morphy richards have obviously cut back on build quality with this making it out of cheaper and lighter materials, the top now is made of metal so thin that it vibrates badly when the pump is operated and causes the whole machine to start to vibrate including the cups which start to move around when coffee is being dispensed, Pressing down a little in the top of the machine removes some of this but i think this is something they should have addressed before putting the machine on sale. The old machine had a solid feel about it that this doesnt have. Plus points for the new machine though are the drip tray is now made of plastic faced with brushed metal so that it doesn't corrode like the old one, although i think maybe the old design with a plastic lining whould have given the machine a more solid feel and dealt with the corrosion issue. The water tank is now accessed from the front meaning the whole unit can be placed with its back to the wall, (the old machine's rear mounted tank was always a little awkward to use). The new steam wand is much, much better than the old rubber covered nozzle, and the new more powerful pump does a great job of warming and frothing the milk. All in all Not a bad machine but if the vibration problems and solidness of build had been attended to it would have been a great machine.

Unlucky for some...

We may be unlucky, as the first blew an internal gasket after several weeks, and the second was faulty from the start. While the first worked, it made excellent espressos etc and the warm top was convenient for storing accessories and frother jugs. My only quibble was the frother nozzle seemed short...
