Imploding Glass inside Jug!

Purchased this for use in a small office environment (10 people) and use it 2-3 times per day. About 6 weeks after buying, the glass inside the metal thermos jug broke when cleaning - as its pressurised, made a loud bang. We contacted Melitta 0 after a long wait of several weeks, they eventually sent out a replacement jug.About 3 weeks later, the same thing happened. Its dangerous as its glass thats shattering and there is obviously a defect in this batch or in the design.We're looking for a refund now, again have been in touch with the company but they are taking a long time to respond and resolve. Now looking at purchasing a more commercial Bravilor machine.On the positive side, the machine is designed well - makes good coffee and looks great. Perhaps its more suited for home use (although if you plan on using it every day, then maybe consider something else).

Melitta Coffee Maker

Purchased this because of problems with a cheap filter coffee maker (not from Amazon).This one is the dog's bollocks! It produces fantastic coffee every time. If you want it to keep warm for hours, you can pre-heat the Thermos jug, as you would a flask. The coffee then keeps warm for maybe five hours without the stewing it would get on a hotplate (or indeed the electricity consumption).

Terrible customer service. Design flaw DO NOT BUY

I want to echo the other reviewer. The flask has a design flaw. I bought my machine in France and it exploded in my face while I was rinsing it out. It had LIGHT use as it is in our holiday home.I was terrified. Melitta would not honour the warranty as they said it did not cover glass and the glass could only explode if I had either hit the flask or used too hot water. Neither was the case. The warranty was 2 years and I had the machine for 18 months. Until that point I could have written a glowing review too!So beware. And, Meiltta, customer service IS important. My machine went to the waste disposal site and your lack of goodwill means I will never buy another Meiltta product again.
