Great coffee from a beautiful machine

I bought this machine after visiting my Italian friends who are always raving about it... in addition to great coffee it is very beautiful and makes a great centrepiece for my kitchen. The steamer is much better than any other I have tried both for steaming and ease of cleaning. The x7.1 has a better steamer than my friends x7.0 (which is metal and really hard to clean)... for even better milk foaming I found that removing the outer plastic layer on the arm which I think is there for safety so watchout!I've been using this for 6 months, got through ~150 capsules, without issue. The only odd thing is that it doesn't always deliver the same quantity of coffee, although I think this is due to variation in the capsules rather than the machine. I descaled recently as I live in a hard water area, but I don't think it needed it... descaling is easy as it has an automatic program, although I found I needed to put in more than the litre of water it recommends.

Machine is problematic

This machine actually works very well, and produces great coffee when it's working properly. Unfortunately after a few months of owning this machine, it stopped working and nothing I could do would fix it, and I had to send it back to the manufacturer. They sent me a replacement machine and within a couple months it happened again. Basically the machine acts like it has blockage somewhere and water comes out the "back pressure valve" in the drip tray. Unfortunately after two failures in a row I am going to have to abandon this model.

This coffee maker looks brilliant in our kitchen!But is doesn't just look good it makes great coffee, the decaffe is nice. Although the capsules cost about 40p each, its worth it for not having to clean up coffee debris, as it all contained in the capsule.I also use the steam for making hot frothy milk for hot chocolate, which just tastes divine.Well worth the money
