Buy this, but not for 400 quid

No-brainer - buy one! I've owned a Picciolina espresso press and a Gaggia classic (both over 300 quid), and this little machine knocks many, many spots off them both. Whoever designed it is a genius; easy to use, simple to clean and compact, it also makes *any* variation of espresso you like, reliably, simply and quickly. You can also use it in manual mode for ristretto, lungo, macchiato or whatever. It's best to get a (burr, not blade) grinder so you can use fresh beans, and if you like decent coffee you'll wonder how you ever did without it; it does work fine with pre-ground in an emergency and has an optional pod filter. I bought mine in 2012 from PC World (!) shortly before they halved the price to 90 GBP:( but you can now get them from Argos for significantly less than the Amazon price here.While the form factor is superb - you can even detach the milk container and keep it in the fridge, and the water reservoir is large and easy to remove/clean (unlike Gaggias) - the graphic design is my only gripe. Silver on red makes the symbols difficult in a dim kitchen, and the logo is simply naff. But hey, that's Far Eastern graphic design for you. Engineering-wise, the Oster is brilliant. It may not please all coffee snobs but there are very few coffee shops here in Glasgow that make coffee better, and I've tried 'em all.I'm waiting for the Argos price to come down so I can get a backup. Mmmm!

Coffe making snip with a hint of reservation mixed in.

At under £150, this machine is a bargain.My only slight reservation is in the milk frothing which produces a froth that does not last for long on top of the espresso.Also-the frothing adjustment knob can be turned too far towards maximum and produce no milk/froth whatsoever.
