Perfect coffee every time

We've had our Francis Francis Illy IperEspresso Y1.1 machine for 3 months now. We use it every day. Fast, reliable, perfect coffee just the right temperature every time. We have programmed the 2 buttons as "his and hers" so we each have our favourite coffee exactly the way we want it. The capsules can be bought more cheaply than Nespresso from other online vendors and we think taste better than Nespresso. This machine is also cheaper than Nespresso. It is highly durable, solidly built, with no delicate parts that could be easily broken. When using a Ristretto or Lungo capsule, the machine automatically adjusts the amount of water used so the perfect strength is still obtained--no guessing! The first time we used the machine it took a while to warm up. Ever since then it takes less than a minute. We can't imagine mornings without it!

The best capsule espresso machine available

I write this as an owner and user of Nespresso, Tassimo, Dolce Gusto and now Iperespresso (one of each machine at either home or office). Sufficed to say, if you are looking for the best espresso shot, this is the machine (or at least the system) for you.The illy espresso is unmatched by any of its capsule competitors. A close second is Nespresso, and indeed if you grow tired of the same flavour, then the 22 varieties of Nespresso are your best bet. However, even after finding your best variety of Nespresso, it still pales in comparison to the Iperespresso. I have neglected to even mention Tassimo and Dolce Gusto simply because they make awful espresso shots. Yes, their milk drinks are easy and tasty, but they do not produce an authentic flavour.Anyway, the machine...I took some time to make decision between this and the similarly priced X7.1. The clear difference between the two in terms of functions is the presence of a steam wand on the 7.1, however the pure looks and build quality of this machine made it a no-brainer. The machine has a fantastic build quality compared to similarly priced capsule machines on the market, which are usually plastic casings.The touch controls (which can be re-programmed to your own custom measures) are a nice feature, however if there is a big price difference between this and the original Y1, I would probably save money and buy the Y1. The reason is as follows:To produce a good quality, hot shot of espresso, you need to preheat your cups, far hotter than the little passive warming plate can achieve This requires priming, running just hot water through the system and into your cup. Unlike with other capsule systems, the Iperespresso capsules seem to retain a lot of water within the grounds that doesn't end up in your cup. This means that if you have preset your small shot button to fill your espresso cup with espresso, a pre-shot of water is going to be almost double the amount and completely overflow your cup, causing quite a mess. A workaround would be to maybe use one button for pre-shot water, and the other for coffee, or alternatively you could simply hold your finger on the button until you get the desired quantity in each instance. However, you effectively then own the Y1 non-touch machine... (I, luckily, use my nespresso machine, sat on the same worktop, to prime, and don't have to worry about this!)Besides this little "quirk", I couldn't be happier with the machine and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.(As other reviewers have hinted at, there are better online sources for the capsules at a lower cost, also with free shipping. This is the best place for machine prices however).

Would recommend this product to all Illy coffee lovers. The best Illy espresso everytime. Super design. Good price for an overall great product.
